Best Pilot news: profile pictures, new crew picker & more

Brand Background Blog Post Cover Image

Every week we talk to people who plan, fly and manage training in Best Pilot, and what they tell us sets our roadmap. This release is built on those conversations: a more personal product, a crew picker that is easier on the eyes, billing that follows the fuel you actually burn and much more.

Add your picture to Best Pilot

Audience: Everyone

Names alone make people hard to tell apart in a crew list or on a small screen in the aircraft. Now every user can add a profile picture. It appears next to your name across Best Pilot — in the menu, user cards, user lists and crew selection — and in Flight Mode, on training cards, instructor lists and training details. No picture yet? Your initials stay in its place.

Pictures are cropped to a square automatically. You can upload JPG, PNG, WEBP, HEIC, HEIF or AVIF files up to 10 MB, and in Flight Mode pictures you have already seen remain visible offline.

  1. Open your profile in Best Pilot.
  2. Click the edit icon next to your avatar.
  3. Choose a picture — it appears right away.

Pictures are added in Best Pilot; Flight Mode displays them.

A clearer crew picker

Audience: Everyone

Choosing a crew is now much easier to scan. One header (Pilot, Last flight, Next flight) replaces labels repeated on every row, and each person shows a photo, a colour-coded availability dot — green available, red unavailable, grey no declaration — and their role in soft grey underneath. Groups come with Select all, the letters you type are highlighted, and on a phone the picker opens full screen with search and a Done button.

Bill for fuel used

Audience: Administrators

Add Fuel used as a unit in your price list and charge for the fuel actually burned: the unit price times fuel at departure minus fuel after landing, the same Fuel used figure you see in flight details. It appears in the financial report and its Excel export. Fuel has no unit of its own, so the price applies per unit as you enter it, and it applies to new trainings.

Documents, all in one place

Audience: Administrators

Documents now has its own section in the left menu. User documents, which used to sit under Reports, and Document templates, which lived under Resources, now come together as two tabs.

Keep your flight running in Flight Mode

Audience: Instructors

You can now leave the Training tab while the flight timer runs, from off-block to on-block, to check a student’s progress, look at upcoming lessons or prepare the next student. Your flight stays as you left it, timer still counting, even offline.

Also in this release

“Lesson time = Booking time”, remembered reliably. The switch now keeps your last choice whether you start from New Event, copy a training or click the calendar.
